Ok, I admit it.
Most job-seeking advice is boring and conventional. And I am the queen at dishing it out.
But what if it did not have to be like that? What if looking for a job could be bl**dy funny and fun at the same time?
What if there was an amazing way to bring your tribe to you?
Meet Garry Williams.
Garry is one of the men who brought F*ckUp nights to Melbourne.
F*ckUp nights celebrates stories of failure – inviting business owners to open up on stage about their miserable mess-ups. The idea is that talking about failure so openly de-stigmatises it, and helps us all have a go.
The nights are hilarious.
But from a networking point of view here are some of the many genius things about F*ckUp nights.
The name alone means you can’t ignore the invite when it pops into your email.
The name needs no explanation at all when you read about the event.
Creating an event around something you passionately believe, brings a group of like-minded individuals to you.
You become the focal point by default – the centre of expertise on the topic.
Et voila!
It’s the Seth Godin tribe theory on steroids.
So come join us for some inspiring ideas and maybe think about how knowing this could change the way you look for a job forever.
