Yes, you read that correctly.

As part of our #CareerCarePackage, Naish and I are throwing the next LinkedIn Live session over to you.

This is a tough time to find a job.

We’ve been speaking to a lot of people in recruitment and talent acquisition who tell us that instead of getting 60 applications for a role, they’re now receiving 500+.

What that means for you, is that you need to be more creative in getting noticed, and in the way you look for a job.

So if you’ve got questions, about anything at all related to your job search, join us today at 3pm Melbourne time.

We’ll have  red hot go at helping you put your best foot forward.

To watch, simply click on this link, to Naishadh Gadani’s activity tab on LinkedIn, just after 3 pm.

If the session does not come up, refresh your screen until it does.

Did you ever meet a tree charging a bird rent? Did you ever meet a river charging fish for water?

As counsellors, we sit with people who are in crisis.

Clients are on the front line of a new kind of battle where survival, meaning, purpose and wellbeing are considered primary.

There are no clear-cut answers, but there is a deep commitment to finding a new way to live life.

Together with our clients, we wrestle with deep questions such as:

  1. How can I earn money, but still do something that has deep meaning and purpose in my life?
  2. How can I contribute to make the world a better place, while providing for my family?
  3. How can I remain true to myself, while having to constantly earn money to survive?

Back in historical times money was not an issue. The First Nations were self-sufficient and traded amongst themselves. There was a natural trust that whatever the Nations needed, it could be sourced through the collective efforts of the hunters, gatherers and the community as a whole.

I’m delighted to present you a unique Career Care Package on LinkedInLive.

We know it’s sooooo hard to “write down your career goals” if you don’t know what those goals are, or whether they match your innate strengths?

If this is you, watch our LinkedIn Live.

We did simple live exercises with creative problem-solving expert Natalia Walker to help you to start to unlock your hidden strengths and talents.

Don’t worry, it’s not about putting people in a monkey suit to do some interpretative dance around your fridge.

But to do the exercises you will need the following:

    • Either download and print out these worksheets
    • A round bowl to trace around
    • 4 – 5 pieces of white paper
    • At least 1 coloured pencil (preferably more).

Natalia is Director of Inner Creative. She works with individuals and businesses to empower people to unlock their creativity to get more out of their lives and business.

This exercise is super revealing, both in what comes up, but also helping you identify the type of learner you are.

And that insight alone is gold.

Whether you’re working or looking for work – everyone’s worried about the job fall out right now.

You might rightly ask who’s actually hiring during the short term, and what will the job market look like in the longer term?

To be honest so was I.

So, I went searching to discover what I could about who’s hiring and here’s what I am compiling to help you prepare.

I will keep adding to this list as news comes to hand.

Resources to help you prepare for a job search online.

It’s always been tough to compete for advertised jobs. That’s why last year I developed the Straight to Shortlist Challenge – designed to help people build their online brands and network to find hidden jobs using LinkedIn as the main tool. Most of the leg work can be done without even leaving your lounge room. In fact even the face to face meetings some of my challenges, ran were done via zoom.

I have listed my best resources to help you set up a powerful LinkedIn profile.

Here’s the job information I’ve been able to find right now. It’s not a perfect guide. But it’s a start. And to find out more I suggest you read the full article I have linked to at the bottom of each section.

So, last year I founded the Straight to Shortlist Challenge, in which I take a small group step by step through the process of tapping into the hidden job market to find a job.

It’s been wonderful to help people make career u-turns they’ve never thought to be possible before.

Having helped people develop target list of contacts and employers and map out what to say to complete strangers, it’s been truly insightful to work through in real time some of the advice experts routinely provide.

Now having done that,  I suspect much of the advice about best practice networking comes from people who have not put it into practice at all.

So here’s what I’ve learned to be bollocks about networking.

And here’s what I’ve learned to be true.
