When I wanted to change my career, I did a lot of experimentation.
In no particular order, here are some of the ways.
I volunteered with a food van to feed people experiencing hardship. I taught asylum seekers how to use computers. I wrote submissions to the government so some could stay in Australia. I helped asylum seekers find jobs. I wrote a couple of articles for industry magazines. I conducted research for an association for office professionals. I coached friends on job interviews. I chaired charity committees. I wrote promotional material for a literacy program.
And that’s just the unpaid stuff.
I didn’t even think I could ask other people who’d gone before me for help.
Looking back I could have saved myself a lot of pain.
If you’re confused about what to do – we have someone interesting for you to meet.
On today’s show we’re grilling Sharn Bedi.
Sharn has reinvented her career from sales and marketing, to TV hosting to coaching.
We’re going to get her to share exactly how she did it.
