Even I’m a bit “meh” when I read something like that.

What about this, then?

“As a young girl, I always had an idea that there was more going on in the world, than what others around me accepted as normal. I sensed my family was thought of as a little odd in our neighbourhood as we didn’t have carpet in our house, and only one car.

I found it weird that nobody thought to ask questions about why. I think I have been asking them ever since. 

I suspect that makes me a good writer.”
