Why do talented and capable employees exit early?
Was it a poor recruitment exercise? Possibly.
Was it poor job fit? Possibly.
After spending months conducting a thorough recruitment exercise you can find yourself wondering why your “star candidate” isn’t working out.
Did you know that the difference between the employee staying and performing, or exiting in the first 18 months, can come down to how “attached” they are to your organisation?
As someone who is always encouraging my clients and readers to dig deep within themselves to make powerful choices around career paths, I am deeply passionate about how important it is to find the right fit in terms of jobs and employers.
It’s very damaging to people’s self-esteem AND future career choices, if they do not feel trusted and valued by their new employer and exit early.
All too often I see people blame themselves for a job not working out when the reality can be quite different.

Having worked in recruitment and as a career counsellor over the past 14 years, I have helped hundreds of people find the right job for them.
Knowing how to change careers or find a better job can be challenging.
You’ll often feel lost as there is no one person who has all the answers.
There are also often a few roads you can take to get you to where you want to go.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is that there is a defined process you can follow to help you successfully find a better job.
It may not be easy at times.
And there will be a lot of challenges along your path of personal transformation. However every client whom I have ever worked with, has always made some kind of positive change simply by contemplating some of the information contained in the key steps below.
As we keep saying on this blog, it’s important to know that you are not alone.
The search for meaning and purpose is what makes us human. Looking at ways to transform your life can be incredibly rewarding, especially if you find yourself feeling lost, bored, stuck or unhappy at work.
There are also trained professionals available to help you, who can make your job change process much easier for you. [click to continue…]

If you’re shy I’m sure you’d rather have teeth taken without anaesthetic than be caught showing off talking about yourself on LinkedIn.
I totally get that.
I am often quite shy myself.
In fact, one of the reasons I explored social media as a way of building my business, is that I really suck at cold calling.
I wanted people to come to me if they needed help, not chase them down and insist I was the answer to a problem they did not know they had.
The bad news is that if you feel awkward or introverted online, you are actually cutting off a strong source of quality job leads.
LinkedIn is now a weapon in most recruiters’ armoury for hunting down staff.
So if you’re an introvert or shy this post is specifically for you.
The examples I am about to provide come from real life LinkedIn profiles where people have won interest from recruiters and head hunters.
