Karalyn Brown is behind InterviewIQ
Karalyn is a writer and social media influencer, engaging people on topics around careers, people, HR and management. A former HR and recruitment consultant she has written for the Australian, the Sydney Morning Herald, CareerOne, Management Today, Recruiter Daily, Recruitment Extra and HR Leader. She’s co-authored a book: “What do employers really want?” and regularly talks jobs and how to find one on abc radio with Tony Delroy.
Over the past six years, as Founder of InterviewIQ, Karalyn has helped hundreds of people find jobs.
Her clients have come from all professions – ranging from Accountants and Analysts to Welfare Workers Web-Developers (- no Zoologists to complete that list, unfortunately!) She’s sat on private and public sector interview panels as an independent, assessed on assessment centres and headed up the recruiting unit for a large NSW government utility.

Meet Deborah Barit
Deborah Barit is a Sydney based trainer consultant author, and Director of Impressive Interviews. She specialises in preparing CV’s, application letters selection criteria and trains individuals and groups for job interviews. Her clients range from new graduates, professionals, managers and school leavers through to specialist areas such as medical, legal and technical professions.
Her career has included selection and recruitment for public, private and community sectors here and in the UK. Deborah has also worked in the areas of labour market research, evaluating government-funded community programs, Operations Manager of the Australian Government Health Service (HSA) and advised and monitored Commonwealth funded disability employment services.
She holds a Bachelor of Economics Degree from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations form UTS.
Deborah is a member of the Australian Institute of Training and Development, an Associate of The Australian Employers Network and was a Board Member of TEAM NSW a community based organisation that provided skills training for people who are long term unemployed.
Meet Lois Hewitt
Lois is a careers practitioner in private practice and currently consults to The Australian Catholic University where she counsels, runs career development workshops on resume preparation, interview techniques and job search techniques.
She has worked for private and government organisations such as the Department of Education, Employment and Industrial Relations and during the GFC, consulted extensively for global outplacement agency DBM. She brings a wealth of experience to the career space that will assist in clients in job search strategies and career transition.
Meet Intern Richard
Richard is a trainer in the community education sector working on a voluntary basis with migrants, refugees and the educationally disadvantaged. This includes literacy and numeracy learning with TAFE Queensland drug and alcohol rehabilitation program clients.
He has previously worked as a workplace trainer, a recruitment consultant and spent 6 years in Human Resources with the University of Sydney.
He holds a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education from the University of Technology and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Cambridge.
Richard is responsible for some of the wisdom and wit on this blog.
The likes of Nelson, Kim, Julia, Barack, Elizabeth and Snookie can now all sleep soundly knowing that Richard can answer all of their career questions, and a few more!
